Very happy to be posting my last week of offerings in respect of NaPoWriMo 2017; it has been a pleasure sharing and of course an even greater pleasure reading all the very inspirational poems from my fellow poets. It has been a great event once again 🙂

April 24th

Secrets lost in time
Standing steadfast on the shores
Hidden in plain sight

No name on this cross
History and truth erased
Knowledge in silence…

April 25th

Tales written in stone
Stories inscribed within trees
Encoded in time

April 26th

Dancing in the green of the land

And revelling in the seduction of one’s senses

As the fecundity of being becomes an intimacy

Transcending physical space

Relishing life’s purpose laid bare

Upon the tracing board of time

Knowing our geometry was duly mapped by

A greater architect

Accepting what is

Allowing the weave of design and destiny

To track its eager fingers upon our hearts

Over every contour of its pre-planned route

Let life come as a secret lover upon the stairs

Allow each creak and hesitation

To heighten all senses

Dance in the delight of the becoming

Tread not lightly when the flowing sands of time

Shatter into a myriad of broken shards

Reflecting perceptions of identity

That sparkle in the dawn

Dance in life’s ecstasy with all of your being

And care not when the clock strikes midnight

For in the intimacy of your becoming

You will at last let go

April 27th

By the great sun’s wheel

We are mapped from birth to death

Yet what lies beyond?

April 28th

Colour’s spectrum reigns

Under the great rainbow arch

Love and Light are we

April 29th

Inspired by a waymarker in a churchyard upon Exmoor; a place that has so many tales to tell…

A solitary waymarker stands tall upon the ground
A tick upon the land.
No blood
No sign of any struggle
Not now.
A body long ago hunted down and burned
Ashes scattered to the winds
On a wild and desolate moor.
Not for the likes of her
The serenity of a consecrated graveyard.
Not for the likes of her
The dignity of remembrance.
Not for the likes of her
A beautiful epitaph carved in stone.
All she did was fall in love.
Surrender her heart and soul
To one who loved her back.
All she did was fall in love.
To love wildly with all her heart.
All she did was fall in love
With the passion of all her being.
All she did was fall in love
With an immortal.
All she did was
Allow him to love her back
And kiss him on that dark and stormy night
In that desolate graveyard
Way up there upon the moors.
All she did was allow the boundaries of her humanity
To stretch henceforth into eternity.
It was all she did
She fell in love…..

Some nights when wandering up there on the moors
One can almost catch the movement of shadows
Out of the corner of one’s eyes.
One can almost imagine in the darkness
The waymarker with the sturdy gorse bush still growing at its foot
On the otherwise patch of dry lifeless earth
Where nothing else will grow.
And if one was to imagine
Sinking down upon one’s hands and knees
Under the waymarker
Up there on the moors.
And imaging scraping away at the parched black earth where nothing lives.
One could almost imagine
Almost
Uncovering an old and crumbling piece of wood
Tossed away in haste
A trusting heart pierced.
One could almost imagine
Almost
Whilst up there on the moors….

In a world of lies
Mix and match the truths my dears
Illusion hides fear..

Never more a tale to tell
Thorn grasped before death….

Built of illusion and lies

Flight Path of Time

Shame on me for I have not updated my poetry and story telling site for ages, so its about time I did just that and remedied the situation! So therefore talking about time (and how can we get away from it even though it is an illusion); this poem is all about time…..

A soul drifting in the universe seeking the pathway home.

Nearer and nearer yet further away; wanting the comfort of home

Yet still seeking alone, swathed in the bubble wrap of time.

Only the stars keep vigil for guidance home.

Only the sun and moon to light the way.

Drifting in a dark void of perpetual timelessness waiting for the corners of time to converge.

Craving recognition;

Desiring of acceptance.

Wanting to leap through the portal of night yet bound by unvalued earthly ties;

Binding as heavy as gravity,

Laden is my soul; a creature of flight, caged.

Once plucked from the midnight skies by the mocking hand of destiny.

How could this be?

Who has bound this soul?

Come oh timeless flight!

Come swift wings!

And release this soul.

Let drift amongst the stars and grasp the flight of time.

Let play with the stars, seek council with the moon and glory in the shadow of the sun.

With sword so swift I pierce this heart that once I owned,

And so shall my blood seep upon the earth where once I trod.

I rest in time

I rest in space

The clock ticks

And the Universe just is.

for story 2

We stood on the shores of time, you and I and gazed into the sunset as time ran out….

And yes we did finally meet as the tide turned crimson at sunset, just as you said we would. Yet it was your haunted eyes that glowed deeper than the tides; eternally like garnet flames……..you were silent, quiet and even though I hardly knew you I knew something was wrong. You knew something more – what was it? Was this the end or just the beginning? Your face did not change; you just stared into eternity as if it was  our future you saw on the horizon. The last day on earth; we knew this time would come; for everything we had ever known, loved or believed in had led us here to this frozen point in time.

But what now? How can this one moment become our future? You knew so much and said so little and I clinging on with an insane urge to survive still knew nothing. The sunset faded yet your eyes still burned and I knew at this point that I would never, ever see another sunset again. Why had I not seen your garnet glowing orbs before, those fiery orbs that now told me who you truly were and why you never shed a tear for the very last sunset here on earth?

I began to hear a distant roar and a tremor beneath my feet; everything around was rushing past me, memories, movements, actions, people, all going, all fading as the ground gave way and I found myself suspended in a time that never really was. I looked around in the gathering darkness, where were you?

Am I dreaming I wondered, was I to wake up safe and sound in my bed, still loving you yet never having known you for real. Or am I really riding the waves of time waiting to cross the threshold into your world. But where were you, where was the sunset we gazed upon? Where was that shore and why could I no longer sense you by my side?

And now I could no longer see those glowing orbs as the winds and the waves consumed me in a deep vortex of uncertainty. I craved the fire for myself; I craved to see your eyes again as the rains fell upon a land that no longer existed. Tossed upon the winds of fate I somehow held on until eventually the quietness came and I realized that yes this was the beginning.

And when all winds and rain had ceased and the quietness came upon all, I saw again from out of the dark skies, those two shiny red orbs seemingly coming towards me; those garnet, glowing orbs I knew so well. So I was not alone after all I thought and waited for your whispering voice beside me, a voice that filled me with hope and comfort. Yet it never came…. For as i peered out into the midnight coloured sky I saw indeed those bright orbs, shining side by side, orbs of hope, orbs of the future; beautifully placed side by side, the new twin planets of a new universe.
